Synopsis: Tibetans live and thrive at extreme altitudes. An important event in this human adaptation was the incorporation of DNA from Denisovans. Denisovans are ancient ancestors that diverged from Neanderthals and were only recently discovered through the sequencing of 40000 year-old bone fragments and teeth. Sequencing has not only helped us identify ancient ancestors, but also how humans managed to survive and adapt to inhospitable climates.
