What is Phasing?

2013年7月22日

Whole-genome sequencing conventionally generates a single consensus sequence without distinguishing between variants on homologous chromosomes. Genome phasing addresses this limitation by separating the consensus sequence into individual sequence strands to identify which variants are inherited together. This introduction to human genome phasing describes how phasing enables resolution of de novo mutations, impacting studies in genetic disease and population reconstruction.
