Insurance Programs

  • Group Private Medical Insurance
    Illumina will provide, at no cost, eligible employees private medical insurance. The product provided is Executive Cover 2 plus travel insurance. Employees can enroll family members into plan for an additional cost payable by the individual employee on a monthly basis.
  • Life Insurance
    This group life insurance scheme is equal to 2x the employee’s basic annual salary upon a death-in-service. Premiums are 100% paid by Illumina.
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment
    Illumina also offers eligible employees an accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) plan. This AD&D benefit is equal to 2x the employee’s basic annual salary. Premiums are 100% paid by Illumina.
  • Business Travel Accident
    Illumina will provide insurance to you or your beneficiaries if you die or are seriously injured while on business travel.
  • Travel Medical
    Emergency medical and dental coverage for employees on business travel.
  • Long Term Disability/Group Permanent Health Insurance (PHI)
    Group permanent health insurance (PHI) is available for income protection in the event an employee is absent from work for a prolonged period of time due to sickness or disability. This benefit is available after 13 weeks of disability and will cover 75% of basic annual salary (less state benefits) received.


  • Illumina provides a group personal pension scheme that is stakeholder compliant. Illumina will contribute 10% of an eligible employee’s basic salary. Employee’s can also make (optional) personal contributions towards this plan.

Additional Remuneration:

  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
    Eligible employees will have the opportunity to purchase Illumina stock at a 15% discount through payroll deductions with after-tax monies. Illumina has two enrollment periods each year in January and July where employees can elect to contribute 1 – 15% of their base salary.
  • Annual Leave and Holiday entitlement
    Illumina offers up to 25 days of leave each year and provides statutory paid public holidays.
