Benefits

Health

  • Illumina offers comprehensive medical plans through Blue Shield and Kaiser. In California, employees can avail of the Blue Shield HMO or Kaiser HMO. There are two Blue Shield PPO plans that are available to employees in and outside of California. Each plan provides prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are also offered to allow employees and their dependents to pay for health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
  • Illumina pays 100% of the cost of Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance for all employees. The basic life and AD&D benefit is 2 times annual base salary to a maximum of $600,000.

Dental/Vision

  • We offer a PPO dental plan through Guardian. PPO plans give you the freedom to seek services from any dentists you wish. This plan covers preventive, basic, and major services along with adult and child orthodontia.
  • The vision plan is administered by Vision Service Plan (VSP).

PTO

  • Our paid time off policy provides eligible employees with accrued time off that can be used for vacation, illness, and personal time away from work. New employees accrue 20 days each 12-month period. Accrual begins on the date of hire. After five years of service, the accrual increases. Illumina also provides 10 paid holidays each year.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

  • At the first enrollment period after date of hire, eligible employees have the opportunity to purchase Illumina stock at a 15% discount through payroll deductions. There are two enrollment periods each year (January and July) where an employee can elect to contribute from 1 to 15% of their base salary.

401(k) Plan

  • Illumina offers a 401(k) Savings Plan, and employees are eligible to join the 401(k) plan at date of hire. Employees may choose to defer 1% to 80% of their base salary subject to the IRS dollar limits. Illumina will match 50% of the first 6% of pay with each salary deferral.

Tuition assistance

  • Illumina will reimburse the cost of tuition, books, and lab fees up to a maximum of $5,250 per calendar year for job-related education.

Employee Referral Program

  • Employees are encouraged to refer friends and colleagues who they feel will contribute to our high-energy work environment. If their referral is hired by Illumina, the employee will receive a referral bonus
